For years in the making (a decade, to be exact), I’ve felt a constant tugging at my heart – a gentle whisper in my conscience urging me to find a way to increase the accessibility to pri…vate recovery care beyond the circle of those who can easily afford it.…

We live in what some might consider a golden age of communication, yet it’s easy to feel like we are listening to – and hearing each other – less and less. One way to ensure your voice …can be heard is by raising the volume: as long as you are shouting while others around you are merely talking, your words won’t get lost in the fray. You could also change your pitch: in a busy, trendy restaurant, low tones stand out against high-pitched laughter and excitement.…

I was recently asked what advice I give women starting – or dreaming of starting – their own companies. What have I learned about getting it done without getting… undone? How do I stay i…n the flow of a day when the current changes mid-stream? The answer is simple, though not always easy: Be Present.…

Practice makes perfect. Strive for perfection, but settle for excellence. Perfection is the child of Time. Be perfectly imperfect. Perfectionism: it’s just another ism. Perfect is as per…fect does. There are so many quotes about perfection and perfectionism that it’s enough to give a person a perfect headache. Despite the prevailing wisdom that perfection is a myth, we ought not to torture ourselves trying to reach it; many of us have a secret idea of “perfect” hidden somewhere in our minds – the perfect job, body, salary, and apartment.…

Growing up in the green hills of Montana, I never imagined I would one day live in New York City or raise a family here. Anyone living in a city can appreciate how it sometimes seems lik…e the concrete and brick are turning us into stone – we risk becoming harder, invulnerable, closed off. Yet even when it’s just a taste, a quick stolen moment, the antidote to my unsettled soul has always been nature.…

Almost every discussion about healthy relationships includes the concept of boundaries. Setting them is essential, keeping them is imperative, and understanding them is part of understan…ding ourselves. But what are “boundaries” exactly? We use the word often, but each of us might relate to it somewhat differently.…

When is the right time to seek help for a loved one? How do we know when we need it ourselves? Buddhist teachings tell us: “When the student is willing, the master appears” – powerful, …simple, and true.  Likewise, we’ve grown accustomed to messages such as “You have to want it”, “You can’t help someone if they don’t want to help themselves”, and “Recovery isn’t for those who need it, it’s for those who want it.”…

Did you know April is Alcohol Awareness Month? While every month (and moment) is an opportunity for awareness, I’m inspired by Alcohol Awareness Month and wanted to share my thoughts.…

A friend asked me the other day, “What sets SilverBell Global apart? In the world of transformational healing and recovery—where there are so many options, programs, and systems —what is… the specific miracle of SilverBell Global?” I answered, “The miracle is in the client. We are just the wand” …but as I consider her question more deeply, a few other thoughts come to mind.…

I was walking home from Trader Joe’s a couple of days ago, my handbag swung across my torso rhythmically tapping my hip with each step, as my hands gripped around a paper bag full of gro…ceries. Whilst jotting across the street as the walk signal flashed a red hand before me, I peeked over the bag of popcorn obstructing my view of the sidewalk ahead of me, and with the bustling sounds of the city refracted off my eardrums, I felt quiet. I felt a sense of satisfaction. I thought, here I am, just taking care of myself. I just bought myself a bag of gro…

I was raised around animals. Growing up, I spent every summer on my Grandmother’s ranch in Montana – a safe, idyllic place of rolling mountains and bright blue skies, my Grandmother’s ho…rses and me, running wild. Riding her horses, my adolescent struggles melted away, and I was free: arms outstretched to the sun and the wind, a moment of perfect joy in an otherwise imperfect world.…
